A very weird movie. I love it but could not tell you why. It reminds me of Beau is Afraid and feels like a fever dream at times. Important plot points are shown, paid off and immediately forgotten. The dialogue at times is wildly cringey and hilarious and I can't tell if we're supposed to take it seriously or not. The characters start monologuing entire philopshical speeches which makes it seem deep but I can also feel that it's shallow. The actors are definitely acting their hearts out and Adam Driver looks like hes on stage rather than in a movie.

I really loved the world building, the world looks to be some version of if Rome had continued to dominate history and founded America. The major city of any importance is New Rome which appears to be New York. The setting mixes Roman ideas and aesthetics with the modern day and it does come out pretty well.
