After watching The Fall of The House of Usher, I wanted more of Mike Flanagan so I watched Midnight Mass. And this show delivers. If you want more Mike then this is as Mike as it gets. The monologues are long and winding and sometimes they overstay their welcome. It get's a bit self rightous but the show itself is quite fun.

I love that they never drop the word vampire even though it was pretty obvious what the monster was. In this universe there is no such thing apparently. I loved Crockett island and I think the island itself was the largest character. The little bits of the island we saw is what I imagine for Ward's island. I wonder if its true.

I still wonder why everyone was so against becoming vampires as that sounds cool as shit. I love that the vampire was just a monster, it had some thinking ability but it was a far cry from being a mastermind. It seemed to just mimic and reflect back what people wanted. Father Pruitt saw an angel and so the vampire reinforced that. All it wanted was a food source. Father Pruitt is what made it into an angel.

When Erin clips the wings, that is amazing. The vampire feels no fear and has no idea what is happening. It just feeds without thinking. The same thing happens with the gasoline the kids pour on it.

I'm still curious why everyone was so against taking the drink at the end when Ali proved it worked.

I don't get why Riley killed himself instead of fighting but probably he was done with fighting and he didn't want to live forever. He was tired and seeking death. The amount of guilt he felt was amazing.

Half the people in this show were in the Fall of The House of User and that was great. It was quite fun to see all the different characters.

Riley - The son that comes back from prison after a drunk driving murder.

Erin - The pregnant girl that returns to the island takes up where her Mom left off.

Warren - Riley's brother.

Leeza Scarborough - The crippled girl that get's her legs healed. I really liked her as she had true faith and she felt something wrong with what was happening.

Joe Collie - The island's drunk. He was great.

Father Paul/Pruitt - Great guy, actor is fantastic. He does it all so he could get a second chance to live a life with his love and daughter.

Mildred - Father Pruitts lover, she was a sweet lady and has the best reaction of everyone when the father preaches. She says thats not the man she knew and that her daughter wasn't to ever go back in there.

Sarah - The doctor, she was the most reasonable one.

Sharif - This was funny as I thought Joe was being racist but no he really was Sharif and he was the Sheriff.

Ali - Weakkkk, this bothered me that he switched his religion. I get it though, he was in a completely new environment, he wanted to fit in and there were miracles afoot.

Bowl - The island's drug dealer, his mom was amazing and I loved that part where she wants the sheriff to look for her son. Fucking depressing.

Bev - Head Bitch in Charge. She really was rightous and she was amazing. She was quoting all the right verses and manipulating as much as possible and she did it with such authority that everyone bent to her. She was a great villain and at the end she was terrified of death.

Sturge - The island muscle.

Wade - The island's mayor.

Dolly - The mayor's wife.

There wasn't much in the way of perfect shots that I wanted to save but the island was beautiful and erie. I would have loved a story that was properly scary. This was a strange show as it's billed as horror but it doesn't feel that way. There is no rising dread or tension. The final few episodes had some bits and pieces but not much.

I still want to watch more so I might try something else from Mike Flanagan.
