I've seen bits and pieces of this show over my life but I never sat down and watched it. I wish I had now as I think this would have probably affected my much more as a child than now.

It's a weird anime and so focused on the internet and technology in general that I think it's a product of its time. It got the general idea right in that the network was going to envelope people. I'm still not sure what it was about but I enjoyed it very much. The utter loneliness Lain seems to be surronded by and how fake reality feels is relatable. How big the real world feels is also amazing, at times the environment with its wires and electrical sounds is overwhelming.

There are shots of Lain against giant electrical towers and I still stare at them and view them with awe. The tech in the show is also what I'm so nostalgic for and I enjoyed seeing that stuff.

There was also a bit of synchroncity as I had read the As We May Think article by Vannevar Bush and that came up in the show. Strange timing. Reddit is also doing a rewatch now and that is also strange. I then saw the ThePirateBay's founder and how cyberpunk his room feels. He had a sketch of Lain. Some things I noticed.
